Amanda Erza collided with an unknown object as she threw up out of a minivan.
A mum-of-three has been killed after hitting her head as she threw up out of a moving minivan.
Amanda Erza, 24, was being sick out of a front passenger seat window in the early hours of Sunday morning when her head hit an unknown object in Osceola, Indiana.
The aspiring teacher was travelling in the vehicle with four others at around 4.40am when she was struck.
Police say the driver and one of the other passengers tried to flee the scene of the fatal crash, but were later caught.
The driver has been arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of an accident, news channel WSBT reports.
Police say they think Amanda had been drinking before she died, and was sitting in the lap of the front seat passenger at the time of the accident.
Michelle Lyman, who lives near the road where the crash happened, said: “You’ve got a 24-year-old child you’ve raised to be a young adult and has their whole life ahead of them.
“And it’s snuffed out because of a decision that was made and because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It’s tragic.”
