The National Police confirmed that it was Janel Aquiles Cedano de León, 35, the body of a physical education teacher found in San Pedro de Macorís and who had been kidnapped last Friday in the municipality of San Rafael del Yuma, La Altagracia province. Cedano de León was found gagged, with a tape in his mouth and buried in some land in Los Morunos, Quisqueya municipality. The southeast regional police reported that in relation to the case four people are detained for research purposes.The report of the authorities states that the kidnappers demanded the sum of one million 500 thousand pesos for their release. The authorities found 1,500 pesos in cash in the victim’s pocket.

The police arrested Frank Méndez Ventura  El Flaco, 32, resident in the San Isidro sector for investigation; Romy Tavera Ceballo, 29, years old; and domiciled in the La Caleta sector, Boca Chica municipality. Also, Mirvio Morla Estrella, 28 years old, resident in San Rafael de Yuma; Yojael del Monte Guzmán (a) el Gordo, 32, resident in the municipality of Guerra. It was learned that Janel Aquiles Cedano was dismounted from his Toyota Camry car, during a supposed police check, while another vehicle was behind his with two men on board.

Witnesses who were transported in a minibus told the authorities they had seen the moment when Cedano was struggling with two men dressed as policemen. Later, the family received a phone call stating that it was a kidnapping, for which they demanded a million dollar sum as ransom.
